Remote Experience for Young Engineers and Scientists (REYES) – This is a free summer program geared towards high school students. From the organizers (Old Dominion University): “REYES is a new virtual program of STEM classes, guest lectures, activities, and opportunities for social engagement. Some of the topics covered in this program will include astronomy, artificial intelligence, solving crimes through entomology, engineering, Python coding for physics, and more.”
CTY is a JHU based summer-camp as well as online school approach to several stem and non-stem related courses. Through a set time period, students are paced accordingly through a system of video teachings, instruction, and tests.
PHYSICS/ASTRONOMY
Python in Astronomy Conference – A conference focusing on the use and development of Python packages in astronomy. Happens in a different city each year.
ENGINEERING
Systems Engineering Challenges in the Near Future – This is a free virtual lecture open to all ages which will mention a few perspectives shared on systems engineering activities as well as adapting to different work and life challenges due to the pandemic. This lecture is conducted by Dr David Flanigan, a member of the Principal Professional Staff for The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and is the vice chair of the Johns Hopkins University Systems Engineering Program. This will take place in January 2022.
